Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel, 2 Bourke St Woolloomooloo. Ph 02 9357 1177 Fx 9380 4853 The "world" renowned Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel... I do believe that just about everyone has been to this pub at least once in their life (or at some time in the future you will go to it), though why, I am not quite sure. Is
it because it is opposite Garden Island and every time a navy ship
docks this is the first pub they see? Is it because Harry's Cafe de
Wheels is just down the road? Whatever the reason, this place is always
crowded Friday and Saturday nights. Since I was last there they have
renovated quite a bit, and some renovations are still going on (around
the pokie area of course). The place is split up into four bars. The Restaurant-style area (which use to be the public bar), a small public bar to the side, a larger saloon bar out back, and "Mooloo" the upstairs bar and entertainment area. When we arrived we had a quick beer downstairs in the public bar, commenting on the renovations which were quite OK (so far). Also of note was the funky bubble gum machine in the Saloon bar - now the machine was pretty interesting, but I must ask, do beer and bubble gum go together (unless they are VB flavoured)? These two bars are fairly average when it comes to pub decor - mainly tall tables and stools with positions around the bar. The restaurant bar, though, is all tables and chairs of the chrome variety, and the decor very much nautical. You don't need to be eating to be seated here, but from the number of waiters around the place, I do believe they would prefer it if you order a meal. The chairs and tables flow onto the street (if sucking exhaust fumes is your thing). The top photo is of this bar. Upstairs is where "Mooloo" is located and this is where we bought another beer and took notes. This area is basically a large room with two pool tables, video juke box, couches, chairs and tables and a small bar. It is also the nite club area at nights, and one would guess that this area can be hired for functions (it had that feel about it). Up here there is also a balcony one can sit at and marvel at the water. The theme up here is beach (just letting you know). Beer Serving:
